Hatred for Hatred

In school, i remember, a question was asked,"
Ma'm, what is the difference between HATE and DISLIKE.??"
. The Answer i still remember as Kavita Ma'm said,"To dislike is temporary, but hate is unchangeable. It's much harder to hate than just dislike. So, Vishnu, never hate, dislike if you wish"
Those words still move around inside me. But things have changed since then. Today, it seems to be easier to hate than just dislike. Much much easier. Within minutes one hates the other more than one's life. " I Hate you " is heard more often than anything. Look around and you'll find something to hate. Has the world changed this much in so less time.? How do i know!!
But i do know one thing for sure...The world wont have changed if there had been no such thing as hatred. Imagine a world were there were no issues. India would never have been parted. There would've been no enemy, no anger, no fights, no cases, no worries! America would've stayed as it was, the World Trade center still working. The stock market at 50000. No Taliban, No Al-queda. No LTTE, No ULFA, No Maoists. No bandhs no bans no lathicharge. No violence. Somalian waters would become safe. Lebanon war chiefs wouldn't exist. Iraq would be green again. Afghanistan would again become a cultural haven. The Earth would become heaven.
But such a utopia doesn't even exist in our dreams. The word hatred has changed us all. We watch Raj Thackeray's men beat up an elected representative and what do we do.??? Simple!! Just change the channel!! We watch beheading of people...change the channel. We watch lathicharge on students...change the channel. We watch Katrina Kaif...we wont change the channel. We watch Sa Re Ga Ma...we wont change the channel. In the End, it doesn't even matter. May be we hate hatred.

"Hate Hatred before Hatred starts to Hate you!" The paradox remains. We love to hate, we hate to love and there's no such thing as dislike!

You are commenting as if you are fine with terrorism, and terrorists masked as socialists like the MNS and SSena.
I am unable to get, how, or in what way are you favouring hatred by "keeping alive" terrorism.
There would not have been the WTC collapse, if there was no hatred. But if there was 'less hatred', maybe the john's and ismail's and rakesh's working honestly at the WTC had returned home in peace come 9/11.
How could the MNS beating an elected representative just be a matter of changing channel, as in, some other day, the MNS might hit us too, since we speak hindi in marathi state (me included). We can be bruised and blooded, could that day we merely change channel and sit in peace?
How could one change channel and have a fun dinner when he can see lathicharge on students, as we still being the students can probaly be a victim of it some day.

I dont think "hating" is in anyway, keeping the world a better place to live in.
Agreed that hatred is essential and necessary, as only because of criticism and dislike (not hatred) we progress, devlop, rise, and not do the same mistakes again.

People often see that there way out is either no way, or the MNS way. Hit and run is the policy for showing hatred. But as you have stated above, removing hatred is much a tough thing than erasing dislike.
I say the peacefull protests done by rajdeep sardesai for ibn lokmat channel was the best way in trying to erase hatred by concentrating at its grass roots. (in sync with your last paragraph)

What else have we done in response to 911.?
what else have we done in response to the MNS drama?
All we have done is got more angry against terrorists, more hatred for those who do it..more anger against MNS..
and the more it is shown on TV , we finally change the channel!

I may sound cynical but we watch people get beaten up, and all we do is say , " Thats unfairr.!!!!" and leave it there itself. perhaps more hatred for those policemen. So many people get murdered politically and when its shown on tv, we prefer sa re ga ma or raju shrivastav instead. The only change being that from that moment you would hate that politician more!! What else.??
No corrupt minister was beaten up except in movies ( we watch such movies thrice!!). AHHH...!! the MNS does beat em up!!! even if they aren't corrupt!! and we watch it live...
we love to watch hatred, rather we love hatred!!
